He took 4-63 on a wicket which showed signs of turning on day one.
But despite the possibility of spin and the tourists opting to omit off-spinner Nathan Hauritz from their side, Siddle believes the selectors have made the right call.
"I don't think it's deteriorating. It's still a nice wicket to bowl on," he said.
"It's going to stay pretty solid and will be a pretty good batting wicket over the next two or three days.
"I don't think spin will be a massive part of it. When all four quicks stuck together and bowled in partnership, we had success."
