Australia boss opening session

Aug 21 2009 -

Australia have made a good start to their first innings after bowling England out for 332 on the morning of the second day of the fifth and final Ashes Test.

The tourists started the day needing to take two more wickets to end the innings and made the breakthrough after just five minutes when James Anderson was out without scoring.

Anderson's record of 54 consecutive innings without a duck was ended when he fell lbw to Ben Hilfenhaus with many of the spectators at The Oval still to take their seats.

Stuart Broad soon followed his fellow seamer when he edged another Hilfenhaus delivery to second slip on 38 to end the innings inside the first half hour's play.

Steve Harmison had entertained the crowd with some flashing drives and ended unbeaten on 12.

In reply, Australia were 61-0 when light rain called a halt to the morning session one over early.

Shane Watson is unbeaten on 31 and fellow opener Simon Katich is on 26 not out despite some close lbw calls off the bowling of Andrew Flintoff.
