Brett Lee has bowled himself into contention for a place in the Ashes decider after taking 3-37 in Australia's victory over England Lions.
Lee, who has missed the first four games of the series with a side strain, was the standout bowler during the 103-run victory in a two-day game at Canterbury.
The experience paceman is now expected to compete with Peter Siddle and Stuart Clark for a place in the side at The Oval.
Ben Hilfenhaus and Mitchell Johnson are expected to retain their places in the side.
Meanwhile, off-spinner Nathan Hauritz, who was dropped for the fourth Test which Australia won to level the series at 1-1, also sent a message to the selectors after taking 2-43.
