Jaipur: The infighting in the Rajasthan Cricket Association has started showing its ugly face as supporters of the ousted President Sanjay Dixit locked the RCA office on Tuesday while Lalit Modi-led group has been protesting outside.
Modi faction which claims support of 20 out of the 33 district cricket associations affiliated to the body, had 'removed' Dixit from the post of RCA President through a no-confidence motion. However, Dixit is not willing to accept the move saying the removal is unconstitutional. He has also accused the Modi faction of trying to buy members into voting against him. Rather, he dismissed RCA Chairman Subhash Joshi and seized the powers of Joint Secretary Giriraj Sanadya on Monday.
The RCA executive committee, chaired by Dixit himself, took the decisions and a show-cause notice was also served to Rajendra Singh Rathore, who has been vocal against Dixit in the many RCA meetings. However, Dixit insisted after the meeting that the RCA's decision to seize the powers of Joshi would not stop latter from being elected member of various BCCI committees.
Asked while RCA executive committee had nominated Joshi to represent RCA in BCCI, Dixit said, "Yes, there was a resolution authorising Subhash Joshi to be representative of RCA in BCCI. But it does not apply to the BCCI Annual General Meeting."
"The mandate to Joshi meant that he despite not being in executive, could be nominated in various committees of BCCI," Dixit said. On his own removal from the RCA, Dixit said, "How few people can remove me? I feel integrity of the RCA body is still intact. I have the mandate of Supreme Court and there is no provision of no-confidence motion in the RCA constitution. Office bearers can be removed only when they resign."
Ever since Modi lost to Dixit in the RCA election earlier this year, there has been constant tug-of-war between the two groups. Meanwhile, the rival faction has vowed to take the matter to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
