Kelly Osbourne was born into a musical family, but the reality star, who is among the 16 celebrities to be featured on the ninth season of Dancing with the Stars, says she has two left feet.

“I’m so excited, but I cannot tell you how terrified I am,” Osbourne told Ryan Seacrest Monday on his KIIS-FM radio show. “Dancing to me is like something I’ve always really wanted to be able to do, but have never had the confidence.”

As for why she decided to take up the DWTS challenge, she says, “I’m not very graceful — I wanted to do something that scared me, and I don’t think that anything could scare me more.”

Osbourne is no stranger to the stage, but she says her previous experience does not exactly bode well for a dancing competition. “I was in [the musical] Chicago on the West End a couple of years ago and I was originally supposed to play Roxie, but when it came down to doing the dancing, I couldn’t learn the dancing in time because I can’t dance. So I went and did [the role of] Mama Morton instead.”

But Osbourne isn’t too worried about the outcome of the reality competition, which will also star Aaron Carter, Donny Osmond and Melissa Joan Hart, among others. “I don’t care if I win,” says Osbourne. “I’m not doing this to try and prove I’m better than someone else. I’m doing this because it scares me.”

The new ninth season of Dancing with the Stars premieres Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. — Marla Lehner
