Gazzard hangs up his gloves

Gazzard, who made his first-team debut for the county seven years ago, was a regular starter in the 2005 and 2006 seasons but has been forced to play second fiddle to Craig Kieswetter recently.

Director of cricket Brian Rose said of Gazzard, who has decided to concentrate on a career in finance: "Carl's been a tremendous servant of Somerset cricket and we'd like to wish him every success for the future.

"He's been very unlucky because of the emergence of Craig Kieswetter as a very obvious talent. He was always going to struggle because of him."
