Julia Roberts to shoot at the wettest place on earth

After shooting many portions of her movie ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ at Ashram Harimandir hermitage, about 60 kilometers from India's capital Delhi, Hollywood actress Julia Roberts will head to Cherrapunji in North-East India, reports say.

“The director wants to shoot the rains in Cherrapunji, so the crew will be heading there after the shooting sums up in Pataudi,” a unit source is quoted as saying by a news agency.

Nestled in the Khasi hills of Meghalaya, Cherrapunji is credited as the wettest place on earth, receiving an average yearly rainfall of 11,430 mm.

The Oscar-winning actress has so far been shooting the film in the Ashram and the Pataudi Palace near Delhi. However, her strong security posse of 350 men has reportedly angered the devotees in the area who have been prevented from offering prayers at the temple because the Ashram has been kept out of bounds for visitors.

Since it is the holiest period of the year, with navratras and Durga puja going on, the devotees are angry over not being allowed inside the temple.

Roberts is in India with her three kids. She’s been provided with a bulletproof car and a helicopter.
