Aladin beauty's Hindi woes

All the firang babes who hop onto the Bollywood bandwagon are inevitably faced with a common hurdle - Hindi. Katrina Kaif overcame it, Giselle Monteiro is still grappling with it, while Claudia Ciesla, another hopeful, has yet to make noticeable progress.

So it goes without saying that former Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez who makes her Bollywood debut in Aladin was also tongue-tied when it came to mouthing her dialogues in the film.

“I couldn't even get the basic words out, let alone a sentence,” she is quoted as saying.

It took her a lot of practice, patience and perseverance to get around the Hindi sounds. In this endeavor, she was helped by…guess who?...her driver and her spot boy.

Incidentally, Jacqueline found out that her driver didn’t know English. She had no other option but to speak to him in Hindi. The same was the case with her spot boy as well.

“They used to correct me whenever I used to falter in my Hindi and sometimes even laugh at me,” Jacqueline candidly admitted.

Today, Jacqueline is much comfortable speaking in Hindi. There wasn’t any magic lamp to make things easy for her. She had to work hard to learn the language.
