Light at the end of the carpal tunnel

The Frog Queen is recuperating at home after having an operation yesterday on her hand for carpal tunnel syndrome.

Her right hand (pictured above) is now out of action so it’s up to me to cook and clean and drive and generally act as her dogsbody. But I’ve told her she’ll have to continue to carry out her usual chores of bringing in the coal and cleaning the roof gutters (I’ll hold the ladder).

The operation seemingly was a success and now she must be off work for about 10 days to recover.

Carpal tunnel syndrome: almost everyone to whom I’ve mentioned it knows someone who has had the op. Apparently, it’s quite common and strikes young and old alike, and is linked to repetitive strain injury.

The Frog Queen’s doctor’s 25-year-old daughter has had the op and an old pal of mine, who runs several karate schools, recently had his hand hacked. Would that be RSI in his case: repeatedly punching someone in the head?
