Pilots should have had warning of airport approach

Did anyone hear about the story about the 2 pilots that missed their target city? These 2 pilots overshot their destination by more then 150 miles. When the FFA tried numerous times to contact the 2 pilots they were unsuccessful. It was at that point the air national guard was contacted and dispersed for a possible hostage situation. It wasn't until a flight attendant in the cabin contacted them by intercom that they responded. They they gave the excuse that the pilot and the co-pilot were in a heated discussion about airplane policy. The FFA was then contacted and the flight was diverted back to Minneapolis. There is now an ongoing investigation by Delta Inc (North West airlines was bought out by Delta in 2008). The FFA is saying that they think the 2 pilots were sleeping while the San Diego to Minnesota flight was on auto-pilot. They have not yet examined the flight date recorders. I think this was a crazy scenario, Why on earth would you sleep while flying? I don't understand how anyone could think that this was OK? In the report on the radio this morning it was said that both pilots have been suspended, and rightly so! There was also another situation in January of this year where 2 pilots missed their mark also flying from Honolulu to Hilo Hawaii. They discovered that both pilots were also asleep and that one of the pilots was diagnosed with sleep apnea. In 2008 they changed the rules about how far and how long pilots can fly. For someone who adores flying this story makes me really angry that 2 pilots are playing with the lives of 144 passengers.
